Team Training Camp Schedule:
All team members are invited to our beginning of the year - Team Training Camp.
Plan on heading down Thu 1/11 after work and ride Fri, Sat & Sun 1/12 -14. Jeff Fleming has generously offered his condo that is located in the Bay Harbour Condominiums at mile marker 74.5. The address is 101 Gulfview Dr., Unit 307B, Islamorada. Tim Bascombe also has a condo on Long Key about 6 - 8 miles farther south. He's offered for people to stay there as well. "Team group ride proved to be beneficial to a positive training experience. The ride from Palmetto and A1A began at 7:15 am and headed north to the West Palm Beach Inlet into a headwind of 20-25 mph.
The group was only about 10 riders as other are in Ocala for the final Florida State Series MTB race weekend.
We rode as a team and worked on smooth pedaling and rotating into a crosswind.
On the ride back, we were cruising through Highland Beach and stopped to talk to our friends of Mapei. As luck would have it, a retired Pro was also riding with them… Andrea Tafi, of the late Mapei squad and lastly the Saunier Duval team. We all rode the rest of the way home with Andrea and enjoyed his insight on the European racing scene. It doesn’t end there, we all were spontaneously invited back to his host residence for a typical Italian post ride espresso complete with fruit and cheeses. All the while, discussing cycling and intently listening to him speak about his career in such a way that only a true, classic cyclist can describe.
We had a great time!
